Christmas to remember!

This year, I've had a whole new perspectives on Christmas. It hit me everytime that I would bebop along with a Christmas carol or song that all of this was about a baby. Now I've known this for what seems like forever, but it is alot more real to me now. A baby is actually breathing and living and moving. It amazes me that Jesus was a baby, just like our little one is a baby. I wonder if he cried at night or if his poops were explosive and messy. Obviously he must have been like all the other babies in the world. I'm just in awe again and again of our Lord's amazing plan to use a baby!

So Christmas has come and gone already, with all of its crazyiness and excitement. First, I had to get over a wonderful bout of strep throat which took us to the emergency room Sunday night. YUCK!! We spent Christmas Eve with the Haynes family eating a wonderful spaghetti dinner, as the tradition goes, and attending church. We finished the evening with our family present opening, and we were all surprised with French gifts that were super cool! Kailyn of course slept through most of the event, but took a few poses with her new treasures! We are really blessed to be in a family who thinks so highly of each other and gives so muc to each other.

Christmas morning, Rob and I spent a few hours opening our gifts to each other and Kailyn. Thtat girl is really spoiled, let me tell you! She doesn't even have a clue of what went on, and hopefully we keep it a secret so she doesn't expect it always! :) We ate nut bread, Rob's fav!
Then we headed over to the Eshbaugh's for another day full of fun! Again, we are blessed! We opened presents, some of which I think we can re-wrap and fool Kailyn into thinking they are new for a few years! We are toy equipped! Then we had a buffet of ham and salads and taco dip (Rob's creation, or course :) )

After some time of visiting with great grandma and grandpa from Florida, and Aunt Deb and Uncle John, we headed back to the Haynes' house for another wonderful dinner of turkey, potatoes and the holiday works! Bless those hands that made it :) ( I love you mom!) We spent some more time with Uncle Bevan and "gruncle" Chris and great grandma. By this times, we were exhausted, and little KB could hardly hole her eyes open. What a fabulous day spent with family!Uncle Bevan's first Kailyn experience.

Her first French doll. :)
What a long day! I'm exhausted!

it's been awhile

Hello Mr. Waddles
I'm getting so big!!!!
MMMMMM, my hand is tasty!
OK! So with all the craziness of the season in full gear, I've been unable to get a few minutes to update! Let's see.. we've had a snow day (yippee!), had a gas leak :(, Kailyn's "received" her shots, taken Christmas pictures, shopped till we were falling over and way cranky....but the biggest news of all...
are you ready for this one?
Kailyn has her first TOOTH! Yes, I did say tooth! On Tuesday she was a little more fussy than usual and was drooling up a storm and stuffing her hand in her mouth quite a bit. Rob and I checked in her mouth and no doubt about it, she's got a bottom tooth making its way up. WOW! She wasn't even 3 months yet. So it's been lots of fun! :) She's getting too big already!

Just a few shots...

Kailyn and her "puppy"

Kailyn has taken a sincere liking to Maxie, who we know call our "puppy" even though she's almost 7 years old. Yesterday, Kailyn was sitting watching Maxie play with her stuffed bear (Maxie throws it up in the air, shakes it and growls at it) and she started LAUGHING! Not just the little giggles we've been hearing but a full blown belly laugh! Rob and I just looked at each other and couldn't believe what we were hearing! She sounded like a real person laughing. I started crying it was so unbelievably precious. She kept watching her puppy play and was even shaking her head like Maxie a few times.

Maxie still is not quite sure about Kailyn, but she does not bother her at all...just checks her out (and mostly ignores her!)
Our two little babies!

We need a little Christmas...

OK, so I know that I am not the only one....but I am using this blog as a way to find out since many of you who read are a part of the Haynes family! What are we going to do for the Haynes side for Christmas? We have missed one too many Christmas parties. I know I really miss seeing everyone and getting together to celebrate. If I was able, I would host it, but that would be a little tricky given the space at our house, but I am willing to help out! I hope I'm not being overly obnoxious about this, but wouldn't it be nice to catch up with everyone? :) Hopefully this at least gets a conversation going... :)

:)

She is figuring out she has feet! We put on her little rattle socks and she stares and stares at them, and them tries to grab them! She's almost got 'em.

Happy Turkey Day!

What a fantastic first "real" holiday we had yesterday! We spent some time with Rob's parents first and then headed over to see my family. I was very excited to share this day with Kailyn~ we of course had to make turkey handprints, and she pretty much did not care to do that. But it was fun making a mess anyway! (I know, that is a total teacher thing to do to a 2 month old... ) :)

Holiday Giving...

We always like to do something for others less fortunate around the holiday season. It's always a great time to reflect on how much God has blessed us and how fortunate we are. This year, Rob is participating in a "Lock-Up" to benefit the Muscular Dystophy Association. Next week, Rob will be picked up by his police escort and taken to "jail" for a portion of the afternoon. He raises money be having friend, family, and associates donate money to either "Bail him out" or keep him in jail.

More pics of Kailyn to come...

I missed my daddy so much today!!! (Friday)
A great big daddy swing...she LOVES this!! And she stops fussing when he does this with her!
Sleeping tonight after playing hard all day with mommy! I just had to play with her all day, since I'll be missing her tomorrow!!

quick update

Well, I'm back at school, so Kailyn spent her first day with her Grandma Haynes (my mom) on Friday. Thursday night, she must have known I needed to get some rest...she slept 10 hours!!! And she has continued the trend of sleeping through the night...Friday was 8.5 hours, and last night was 8!!! I think we are super lucky! So until Christmas break, she'll be hanging out with my mom on Mondays and Fridays and some Wednesdays; and chilling with Grandma Eshbaugh (Rob's mom) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Wednesdays.
I missed her tons on Friday, and it was pretty difficult, but I know that I am so lucky to have her with her grandmas. Plus I think it was time for me to put my mind on something else.
I'll put up some more pictures soon!!

Growing...

How sad! I had to put aside all of Kailyn's newborn sized clothes this morning. :( She is growing way to fast for me! Plus, all of the footed outfits through 3 months won't fit her anymore because she is growing to be so long! She's got to be 2 or 3 inches longer today than she was at the last DR. appointment! I love sleeping on my tummy...but only when mommy is watching!
Check out how she is holding the keys! It was the first time she grabbed and held on to something!!! YEA! Just don't grab my hair and pull! :)

gigggles and laughs....

My favorite time of day is when Kailyn is just waking up in the morning. She spends about 10-20 minutes just giggling and laughing and looking around her world. It is so adorable to watch and makes us both melt. Plus, Rob has figured out that she is ticklish on her tummy, so we spend a lotof time trying that new trick out to see her cute little grin! (this is not a link, but I coulnd't make it go away...sorry!) I'm just waking up!!
I guess I'm kinda a morning person.
Sleepy yawns!
he he he!!

I've got one more week off from school...I go back to my 2nd graders next Fri. the 19th. We visited my class on Tuesday this week. They were really excited to see us, and had lots of questions for me. Kailyn just sat and looked at them all sitting in front of us on the rug.
Womeone asked me at school what I've been up to with all of my time, and I had to honestly think about it. I am constantly busy, and fell like I have a whole list of things to do, but I never finish anything. But I couldn't really say waht I'd been doing. Sometimes I go through the whole and and while i'm busy, I can't say what it is I was so busy with. I guess just feeding and changing her restricts ya from too much else.

baby Rachel

Here is the inspiration for the 2nd picture on the Halloween post. I thought it would be neat to do a look alike shot of Kailyn like the picture of me. As you can see....she looks much more like her papa than me so far! But I've been all sentimental lately and thought this would be neat to show her years down the road.

Happy Halloween!

Kailyn helped me carve a pumpkin today...as you can see she was a BIG help...

Isn't that the cutest Boo bootie you've ever seen??
HaPpY hAlLoWeEn!

My bro

Hey everyone who checks in on us... my brother has also started a blog!Hooray...updates from France!! www.bevanthepenguin.blogspot.com
Gotta go Kailyn is eating her hand....

Trick or Treat!

Our cute little elephant! She helped pass out our candy to the neighborhood. AWWWWW.... :)

See Maxie's cute little nose checking Kailyn out? She is her master protector for sure!

sleepy time...

with a strategically placed zebra stuffie...

10.18.2007

real tub time!

Now that Kailyn has lost her umbilical cord (although it took nearly 3 weeks!) she gets to have real tub time. No more sponge baths! She LOVES her bath time! And even makes it seem like she is splashing her hand in the water. SHe just sits back and lets us wash her....what a great baby! (not to brag)

10.15.2007

these hands

I wonder what these hands will do in her lifetime? Will they...
play piano?
get weekly manicures?
write poetry?
wear a softball glove?
type 90 words per minute?
pick fleas off her dogs?
flick paper footballs across a table?
track what she reads?
cover her ears during thunderstorms?
pick dandelions for her mommy?
give high fives?
hook pinkies with her cousins?
sign "I Love You"?
give the peace sign back to her grandpa?
pinch a little salt for a recipe?
It's just unbelievable to me that the whole world is out there for her, and she can do whatever she dreams of doing. I get so overwhelmed thinking about our part in her decisions and personality. These hands are going to do amazing things! And they will do the ordinary everyday things too- that's what blows my mind.

10.13.2007

brrrr...it got cold!

Time for sweatsuits and joggoing outfits...

10.09.2007

cutie pie

And you're telling me they can't smile yet??
Checking herself out in the mirror...
First time in the crib...it is soooooo big!!! (or she's soooo small)
Maxie watches as Kailyn practices lifting her head. By the way, Maxie has been wonderful! We are impressed by her behavior since Kailyn has come home. She is extremely protective of the baby and checks up on her often. She puts her paws up on the bassinet to see if she's in there, and she has to approve of whoever Kailyn gets passed to. This has been a huge relief!
Our first walk in the stroller....as soon as we got moving, she fell asleep....luckily she is soothed by motion!

I have to say that I am just so blessed to be experiencing all of these things. It is amazing how quickly you fall in love with something (someone) immediately. I can't imagine life without her anymore!

10.08.2007

one more time?

Wow! Last night, Kailyn slept for 5 and a half hours straight! She has been such a good baby, that when I find myself complaining, I have to stop, because she truly is a perfect angel. Yea, yea, I know I'm the mom, but seriously... she's doing very well! She had her first babysitting last Friday night. My mom and dad watched her so that Rob and I could get out (I needed a short break....and to see see some other people in the world- needless to say, I called about 20 minutes into the everning). She got to visit both of her grandparents houses over the weekend, and went to her first restaurant dinner at Rockne's. I guess everything she does is a new first for her! Now, she's cheering on those Indians with us! I'll add pictures tomorrow hopefully...

10.03.2007

good DR. appointment!

Kailyn went back for her 2 week visit today and had a beautiful appointment! She has regained her birth weight and is tipping the scale at 8 lbs. 13 oz! A very healthy little girl. The Dr. set my mind at ease about her feeding patterns and the "trials" of breastfeeding. I'm keeping at it, but it is not the easiest thing to do...

Here we are reading a book today... (or in her case, sitting down and staring at the ceiling as mommy reads and tries to hold the pictures up for her... :) )

Daddy tried on the baby backpack holder thing....she's still a bit small for it, but what a cool thing!

BIG stretches- she does a routine of stretching everytime she wakes up...TOO CUTE!

10.01.2007

hmmm..

For some reason my post did not go up last night when I updated, so I apologize to everyone who's wondering if I'm back from the hospital yet or not.
I am finally home!! I was released on Saturday night and could not have been happier to leave that place behind. They did not find anything on the MRI they did on Sat. afternoon, and my blood pressure had gone down almost to my normal levels. I still have a dull headache, but it should be going away with time.... I had a check up with my Dr. today, and of course, my blood pressure was back up but only in the medium high rnage, so I am monitoring it from home and going back in on Thursday. Enough of this already...I'm ready to enjoy being a mama!

We gave Kailyn her first bath last week! I guess it would be called more of a wipe down because her cord ahs not fallen off, so she cannot be put into water yet. But she absolutely loved having her hair washed and just cooed away at us as we did it! She wasn't too crazy about the rest of it, but she didn't scream!
Enjoy the pictures! not really loving or hating the "bath" sudzing up the hair
She's holding her pacifier all by herself! At least it appears that way :)
